This lesson relates to equipment and technology used in education. I showed the students the teaching aids made by last year students. I also showed the picture of chart, flash card and flip chart.
When I came to the use of board, I challenged some students to come forward and tried to write something on the board by following the principle of board organization. Some students tried to do it. They said that it was not easy to do it. I challenged some other students to draw a simple drawing to enhance the lesson. They found that it was a big challenge for them. I told them to learn how to draw simple picture from a book named ‘1000 pictures to copy’.
At the end, I told the students that they need to be able to use educational technology such as laptop, projector and the internet. I checked how many of them who couldn’t make power point presentation. All of them said they understand the basic principle of making power point presentation and they could make the slides. Yet, the majority of them couldn’t make hyperlink. So, I showed them how to make hyperlink in the slides, and how to link the slides to pictures, photograph, music, video, and movie.
The following is the summary of the material:
The simplest and easiest teaching aid is the board and the chalk/marker.
There are some principles that should be followed when we write on the board:
• Write clearly
• Write in a straight line
• Stand in away that does not hide the board
• Talk as you write
Organizing the board:
• Clean the board before teaching
• Draw a line or two to divide the board into two or three parts
• Write from the left to the right part of the board
• Do not erase/wipe the mistakes with hand or palm
Picture and drawing:
• Cue card is a card held beside a camera for a television broadcaster to read from while appearing to look into the camera. In the classroom cue card can be used for group work or pair work.
• Flash card is a card containing a clear display of a word or words, used in teaching reading. Flash card can also contain pictures.
• Flip chart is a very large pad of paper bound so that pages can be turned over at the top, used on a stand at presentations or teaching.
• Poster is a large printed picture or notice used for decoration or advertisement. In the classroom, poster can be used for describing certain lesson in brief.
Pictures can be used for:
• Drills
• Games
• Understanding
• Ornament
• Prediction
• discussion
Other teaching equipment:
• Pictures and images
• Bits and pieces (realia)
• The board (white, black, green)
• The overhead projector (OHP)
• The projector (LCD)
• Note book /Laptop
• Language laboratory
• Computers and internet
• Cd/vcd/dvd player
• TV set

as a teacher we need to make a teaching aids.it is very helpful.it makes our lesson to be easy to understand by the student.it also make the student focused their mind only for the lesson.
teacher have to have a good hand writing.even they don't have a good hand writing, they should write straightly on the board.student will understand our writing on the board even our hand writing not good enough if we write on a straight line.

Teaching aids is really needed in giving the materials, because by teaching aids students will be interesting to the lesson. after they enjoy the lesson,it would be easy for them to catch the lesson that teacher give. Teching aids can motivate their curiousity in learning and of course teacher's creativity.

as a teacher we have to make a good writing.if we use teaching aids,maybe we will teach easy, but students will be lazy about writing.because they thought if teacher always use projector,laptop,and Etc,why we must writing?why we didn't copy material with flashdisk?so skill writing students not good....

Yep, it's very important for teachers to be able to use the appropriate teaching aids. By using them, we can do our job easily. Surely, it can make teaching and learning fun. The simplest way to deliver the material is by using board and chalk/marker. Others, it depends on the availability of the aids. The most recent aids are probably laptop and LCD. Nowadays, teachers are suggested to be able to operate them. Whatever the aids, teachers should be creative. With any aids, make students fun in learning!

Thank you for the comments. I assume that you all agree how important teaching aid is. As for Ihsan's question, yes of course children need teaching aids to make them understand the lesson more. The most favorite aids the teacher uses in teaching children are picture and realia. For Endang's comment, I think readable handwriting (not good/beautiful one)is important because only a few schools equip classroom with laptop and projector; not all students have flash disks. So, a good teacher needs to have READABLE handwriting. (Write on a straight line is not enough ya Argin ^-^)

Yupz, that's right Mam as a teacher we have to be able to teach use Teaching aids. I've been known that teacher a lot of methodology, technique, etc that relating with teacher environment. I got surprised when you tought about teaching. But, why nowadays, there are taechers that still use of old ways, such as when teacher, teaching the students still using chalk or marker, moreover now is globalization era and technology. And the must to follow changing of technology. Now, we can explains materials to student use of LCD, PROJECTOR, LAPTOP, etc. That related with technology. Actually, I want to tell everything about teaching aids. But, in my opinion Teaching aids is good ways and helpful the teacher. And I hope all students or lectures in FKIP environment can use of teaching aids when expalain materials ao lesson to the students wuth Laptop, LCD, and I hope they can operate them. Mam, I want ask something based on your material.

In this class, i have learned much about teaching aids that i never know before. honestly, my handwriting is not good enough. i'm not confidence to write anything in the white board. like when i taught teaching writing, i didn't write anything at that time. but then i know that we don't have to good handwriting, the point is readable by students.

Mam. as a teacher we need make a student for interesting to our material. think how make a student want to know what the explanation from the teacher. so if a teacher use teaching aids, or realia i think it can help student for more interesting with material. especially for elementary school. if tell about narrative text, like fairy tale Cinderella and we bring a picture Cinderella, or slide when Cinderella dancing with prince I think it can be more attractive and make the student very enjoy in the class. and about how to manage board. heeee.. I still can not do that. I still blocking and silent. i hope i can more developed that. thank for your king attention mam.
